Huff is obviously highly intelligent and does very well at identifying the problems in the media monopoly system. The challenge exists in his understanding of the solution he proposes in "public" funding. That is a trap that will not solve the problem. I hear this often from those who believe the Bernie Sanders persona is an organic phenomenon in US politics. I grew-up with Bernie's son and have known Sanders my entire life. I can tell you it is not.
It should be considered, at the very least, controlled opposition is allowed and encouraged to rail on when the potential for success of the rhetoric is also controlled... Should Bernie's ideas have vaulted him to even higher office I assure it would be a win for the technocratic collectivist corporate interests everywhere.
When you understand the real forces behind Vermont politics and Bernie, this truth can be known. What good is public funding if the corporations direct the government funding and feed off it?
The most powerful of all private corporations, The "Federal" Reserve controls the printing of dollars as debt on the people. As well as the credit markets from which the corporations draw their life blood. A captured currency tied to nothing but promises since 1971 drives all this chaos in our society.
Calling for public funding will not even address the symptoms of information control by the few or do anything but increase it. We do not live in a free market capitalist society. We live in a feudal one. Those who are contesting the status quo today should stop beating that horse. Read their Sun Tzu and Machiavelli and get in the game. LOL! I am not attempting to preach just encourage us all to look at least one potential layer deeper that just debunking what is in front of our faces. We must understand underlying drivers and sadly,,, that does take a fair amount of work and true open mindedness. Bex's new blog here appears to be a great step in that direction I commend her spunk!
Until more people understand that a certain class of people controlling the quantity and value of currencies is a bad idea, no other societal issue can be adequately addressed.
No person that wishes to survive in public life will even discuss the monetary capture of the now world reserve currency or what that even means to a free and equal people. They want us at each other's throats along every dividing line their "think" tanks can imagine and publicize.
We all need to do our best to understand that we are targets of manipulation increasingly through Big Tech to the individual level. We should all read our Ashe, Milgram, and Zimbardo, Bernays, Lippmann, and MacKay as we begin to encourage free minds among us.
Thank you for a very good show. I enjoyed it! Matt
Really value all of your incredibly thoughtful input here, Matt — you make some excellent points, particularly: "What good is public funding if the corporations direct the government funding and feed off it?" Everyone I talk to wants a solution to this mess, but like you said, it's a little more complicated than many people may realize. Since consolidation is really just one small component, hoping to dig deeper into many of the other issues plaguing media throughout the next few installments (like the problematic government ties/revolving door, advertising/funding models, and loopholes that allow for Big Tech censorship).
You are very welcome. You are more than a breath of fresh air. I would be happy to have conversation. Please feel free to search your dataset for my info and reach out directly. As I read your most recent article I could not help but be reminded of this from none other than Ted Turner in 2004. I hope you and your readers find it thought provoking. Don't know much Sanders, don't know much about history (US one), don't know much about media system(US)...
I can keep the joke longer, but as I often write here, you guys have got a HUGE PROBLEM, I tell you, a serious one! You grew up inside the Empire of the 20 and 21st century, so you think in a US centric way.
I mean, very interesting things, nice toughs, but again you think that the world or maybe even the Sun is turning around US.
I'm pretty surprised every time I read about international facts, international issues, how you always bring it back to an US fact or issue. Or, even worst, you're able to transform a lab virus and related vaxine in a fight between nazi democrats and ex nazi republicans... red pill, blue pill... Amazing!
Many of us in EU, wish from many years that pretty soon one day, don't know, Canada and Mexico and, let's say, Argentina, move a war to USA... So we can enjoy to stay away, far away from the americas, and watch whatever and whoever propaganda is from on our 4k TVs.
And especially many of us wish that, so we can grow our economies free from US dictatorships and free from US Big Tech dictatorships too busy cause the war. In this way all the rest the world can grow in prosperity while US and the others in war will suffer from economic and resources problems, besides the war.
So, when you talk about media and debate if should be public or private or public funded but private, AGAIN you talk about US, as if today we were still in the old aerial tv system, or news on paper, or even the "old" cable tv.
But to debate such argument you have to have an history of public, private or public funded systems, but you've not.... simply 'cause US never choose so...
So, my suggestion is: Nice interview Rebecca, as many as you do and write. I appreciate. Interesting point of views.
But then, next time you guys want to talk about something that is/was Public or Private, better you do with someone from the Old and Good Europe! We know the difference, we know how the difference are, because we have/had both systems in the last 50 yrs. Sory.
Take care!
P.S.
And pls, stop this egocentric made in usa way of thinking whenever you talk or write of worldwide problems, systems and especially about the today net. But if u debate Biden or Trump, np, you are the one that should as americans.
One of your President, a nazi one as many in last decades, named Clinton, launched a catastrophic propaganda headline " Think globally and act locally"... That, in other words meant: " Think globally and act locally, 'cause we, US, are the ones that act globally and you shouldn't! "
Gosh, who needs the Billion dollar Hypersonic Mach 10 missiles and the Trillion dollar program(s) to make them go fast if all it took to sink Russia's Moskva Showboat (one of the most heavily defended ships on the planet) were two old million dollar knock-off sub-sonic throwaways and bad weather. Yeah, that's the ticket..

Is there a transcript of this? Mickey speaks quite fast and I’d like to really absorb all that he is saying. Thx for your work!
